No matter how you viewed Scalia, he did dedicate his life to public service.

It will be interested to see if the GOP would block all nominations over the next 11 months.

I think we will hear a lot of stuff from the Democratic candidates as well. DNC candidates will reference the Constitutional obligations and try and promote the Obama legacy while the GOP will block it as best they can while stalling to see if they win the general.

The Canadian campaign cycle was 78 days this year. That is one of the longest in its history. Compared to the U.S. that is insanely short. One of the pros of having such a short election cycle is that it prevents political fatigue which tends to help voter turnout. A lot of people in the U.S. just burn out when it comes to paying attention to the nearly 2 year campaigning in the U.S.

We certainly need more debates than 6, but less than the 20-something that the Democratic Party had 8 years ago.

Somewhere around 11 seems like a pretty healthy medium where there is enough time to address actual issues.

But yeah, the Democratic debates seem very much geared to low viewership. Not good

I'm glad it's free. But I'm curious on how they plan to address such broad topics with such a huge field. They have enough time to get a 2 or 3 sentences in before the buzzer dings. How can anyone address the issues of the Middle East in just a minute?

My Grandmother drained her bank account because of long-term home nursing. We eventually had to sell her house and put her in a nursing home.

Not exactly sure how to fix stuff like that from happening but money should be allocated to it

I didn't sign up for healthcare before the 2/15 deadline. What are my options? Am I just out of luck for a year?

A flat tax system seems nice but, practically, would not work well. For starters, it would exacerbate the income inequality issue and stagnate if not collapse the American economy from the ground up. It would be a strain on many of the subsidies that drive America, such as food. Prices for grains such as wheat and corn would go up as well.

Though, I am in favor of a greatly simplified tax system. The complexity of our current system is staggering. Though simplfying the system is a daunting task in itself and I have no idea where to start.
