The people in Congress need more rules

Each day I get more and more frustrated with everything I hear coming from our congress men and women. I don't understand how some, if not most of these people got elected. And I'm not just talking about one side or the other. Some of the things I hear coming from either side of the isle are either just plain wrong or bend the truth so far to fit their narrative that it's basically a lie as well.

I don't know what needs to be done at this point but something needs to change to where these people are actually held accountable for what they say. They are elected officials. They shouldn't be able to just pander to their side without any rules to keep them in check spread spreading flat out lies. I would say they should just be voted out but the ones taking their place will most likely be the same, unfortunately.

You could have made this post in 1990. Or 1972. Or 1912. Or 1814. And so on. And the same will be true in 2026, 2052, 2077, etc. (I'm just pulling dates of thin air as examples, nothing historical to look into other than the point being made.)

Outside of a new Constitution you're going to continue to be disappointed and frustrated for quite a long time.

We certainly have an ... odd way of running our country, but it's the system we have.

Other Western democracies have a parliamentary system where the leader of the ruling party is also the leader of the country. Additionally, when the "people" lose confidence in the ruling party snap elections can be called and the people can vote to keep the ruling party in power or usher in a new ruling party without having to wait for an arbitrary date to vote like we have in the US.

I share your frustration about our current system. It's a system designed to give overwhelming power to small, largely white states at the expense of large, diverse ones.

Can someone explain how it's fair that the Dakota's, with a total population between the two states of 1,658,026 have four Senators, yet California, with a population of 39,368,078, has two? I can go on and on.
