It didn't take long for President Biden to quash any rumors about him only wanting to serve one term as President. During his first primetime press conference, the President responded to a question about his plans by saying "[t]he answer is yes, my plan is to run for reelection. That's my expectation."

To be honest, I'm not surprised at all. I always found it odd how convinced people were that he would somehow be some placeholder President. That's not really how it's ever worked in our country, so we shouldn't be shocked that the President isn't going to tie his hands behind his back by announcing to the world that he's a lame-duck President two months into his term.

I think the main reason people think that is because of his age. He's already our oldest president on election day.

True, but humans are also living longer than ever. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that a 78 year old President Biden is just a wee bit healthier than a 74 year old President Trump. Age alone isn't the biggest indicator of wellness and mental acuity.

I honestly don't know if President Biden will run again, but he'd be crazy to say he's not going to this early on in his Administration.

Oh for sure. I'm not saying he's too old right now. I'm just saying that by the beginning of his next term if he won he would be 82. Making him 86 by the end of his 2nd term, pushing 87 actually I think because he's birthday is in late Nov. So I do think it's at least prudent to at minimum consider his age at that point. Doesn't have to be a deal breaker but you would have to be negligent in your assessment of reality to ignore it.
