Missouri voters voted by a 53-47% margin to expand Medicaid eligibility in 2020, but their elected leaders basically patted them on their heads and told them they know what's best by refusing to allocate the $130 million the state would need to spend in order to be eligible for $1.6 billion in federal Medicaid funds. In short, Missouri voters voted for something, but Republicans in Missouri's legislature said "no."
What is the point of ballot initiatives if state legislatures can simply ignore the will of the people? It's pretty frustrating to witness and I don't even live in Missouri.
