It's pharmacies time to shine in the vaccine rollout

We are on the cusp of having enough vaccine for everyone in America to at least schedule their appointment to get one. And when that happens I think we should reevaluate how we get shots into every Americans arms. Instead of mass vaccination drives that require huge resources, I think we should at least consider focusing a good chunk of resources on local pharmacies throughout the country.

The way I look at it is there's a pharmacy within walking distance for the vast majority of Americans and they are already staffed by qualified professionals who could easily administer the shot.

To me, it's a no brainer to send a ton of vaccines directly to pharmacies throughout the country, especially the J&J shot that doesn't require any special refrigeration.

Agreed. Honestly I was under the assumption that this was our plan. Is there pushback on this idea or are they not planning on sending as many vaccines to local pharmacies as they should?

It absolutely is. Especially the pharmacies that have the small minute clinic inside. Those are perfectly set up to do a decent amount of vaccines a day.
