Amazon offered to help the Biden administration accelerate the distribution of the vaccine. I think this is good, they certainly have the manpower and logistics to make a dent. Part of me thinks its a way for Amazon to get their employees vaccinated as quickly as possible because I'm sure they've lost money due to people getting sick. Still, it's a win/win. I believe they offered the same to the CDC a few months back. From their letter to Biden:

“Additionally, we are prepared to leverage our operations, information technology and communications capabilities and expertise to assist your administration’s vaccination efforts, Our scale allows us to make a meaningful impact immediately” in the fight against the disease." Dave Clark, the incoming chief executive officer of Amazon’s retail unit.

I agree its not without benefit to Amazon's bottom line. But I do think its a good idea. If we are entrusting big pharmacy chains like CVS and Walgreens to handle the future bulk job of administering vaccinations, why not employ more private sector for distribution.

This would be a tremendous step forward for Amazon. If they break out into the medical market as well, they basically have every single obtainable market sowed up. I just hope it doesn't create an even more unstoppable animal, but it probably will.

Is there any update on Amazon's role in the vaccine rollout? I saw they did a couple popup clinics in Seattle, but haven't heard much else about their roll in distributing anything nationwide.

They just announced they are setting up vaccine clinics at certain Amazon warehouses in the coming weeks. Seems like it's just for warehouse workers but isn't super clear.
