Are you sure you want to delete this post?
do you know...
why I wasn't able to make sure I could check my info on the non filers portal? And resubmit? Why did say duplicate return since I dont even file in the first place?
Oh. I suppose, after reading and re-reading your post just now, that since you already filed with e-file.com, you can't file again with the IRS portal. And it could be that when you entered your info in on the portal, you inadvertently 'double filed' as they already had your info.
If you already received your stimulus though, I don't think there is anything that portal can help you with; its at least my understanding that once they send you a stimulus check, they won't send you an additional one for mistakes, at least not through the portal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong there.
Still think your best course of action is to try and call the IRS. Like I said, won't be a quick or easy process to get someone on the phone, but I have seen no indication that you can clear up this issue by using the portal once they already sent you a check. Hope that helps.
