Do You File Your Taxes Early or At the Last Minute?

I've always been someone who files my taxes towards the end of filing season and was wondering what everyone else does. I've heard pros and cons from both sides, but I've always waited till early April to get my taxes done. I don't wait till the last minute for any particular reason other, but it's something I've done since I started filing taxes as a teenager.

Is anyone else like me or do you tend to file yours early? If you do file your taxes early, is there a reason why you decide to do it that way? Is there anything I'm missing out on by waiting till the last couple weeks to file mine?

I think it was a much bigger deal to file last minute before the internet. But now in the digital age, it's much more streamlined, and millions could theoretically all file in probably the same business hour all across the US and servers could handle that traffic, no problem.

I am terrible at filing early. Never have. Just knowing that I have months to file between getting my paperwork, and Uncle Sam needing it processed makes me always procrastinate. But then again, I'm a self-employed 1099 file. Means I usually owe come tax season. Easy guess is if you will get money back, you wanna file as quick as possible, as you likely could really use that refund. But if you know that you will owe, or don't NEED extra cash at the moment, putting it off is probably much more likely.

I'm the same way. No need to rush when you know you have a date that you file them later!

We're getting close to the last minute for this years filing deadline. Has anyone else not filed their taxes yet or have you taken care of them already?

I have an appointment to do mine on Monday evening, so I am obviously a last minute filer. I always wait until the last minute and this year is no different!
