Thanks for the info! This is good news. Has anyone seen a situation where this wouldn't be true? I guess we will find out soon as they are going to start depositing stimulus checks for those getting Social Security, SSDI, RRB and SSI beginning next week through early May.

It seems like the payment method for those receiving government benefits is pretty straightforward, and I hope it is easier for them than it has been for others lately.

“Recipients will generally receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their SSI benefits,” the IRS says. If you use a Direct Express debit card and are claiming the extra $500 per qualifying child, the IRS said “additional information will be available soon” explaining how to claim those children via the IRS’s online portal. (The IRS did not immediately respond to TIME’s question about when that information will be made available.)

It makes me wonder when they'll make that info available as well.

We haven't received the money yet either. Filed my Taxes on a third party program, which I have used for years. Last year I owed money and set up a payment plan and direct withdrawal. They used my banking info for the withdrawals but I understand that they won't use that information to deposit the funds. Is this correct? Both my wife and I get SSI benefits with direct deposit so shouldn't that have been used to deposit the funds into our account?

Yes, they will use that information to disperse your checks. The lump sum amount owed to both of you might actually be deposited in just one of your accounts instead of distributed to each of your individual accounts. That's what happened with my wife and I even though we aren't on SSI benefits. I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for you and your wife.

What is the IRS doing about the mistakes they making.. IRS is trying to deposit money into checkings accounts that are clearly indicated as savings. By them doing so the banks rejected my daughter's stimulus check. They are suppose to be using the same info that she received her tax refund which went into her savings. They tried depositing her stimulas money into her checkings using her savings account number. This error along without unemployment errors is causing this single mom hardship. She has no income coming in right now and no job. So now she is one of many where nothing set up by the government is helping at all. She has not been able to pay her bills and now have to wait on a check and who knows when she will receive unemployment. This sucks! I think the IRS need to realize this mistake and re- deposit the stimulus in the proper account which is a savings not checkings. It is clearly indicated using her tax return info. Now making her wait for the check and she has no unemployment yet either which she filed back in March. This is really bad for her all around the board. No stimulus, no unemployment. I can't help her, I only have a part-time essential job haven been laid off in April last year from a 16 yr job now exhausted of those unemployment benefits last year. Our household is suffering right now. Rent due, car note, insurance, etc. It's bad right now for such mistakes like this to be happening. I made only 20,000 in 2019 and I still owe IRS again and this was well below my average salary. Just keep beating my family up USA, I've had enough.

I got married in 2019, filed a joint return for 2019, but the stimulus for myself and spouse is based on 2018 and I got a much smaller amount, should have been based on 2019 joint return. How do I get this corrected? The IRS website said the letter would tell us how it was calculated but it did not. Nor are there any ways to dispute the amount.
