You Have Three Extra Days to File Your Taxes in 2016

Last minute filers rejoice! The regular tax day of April 15th happens to be a holiday in Washington, D.C. so you will have until the 18th to file your taxes this year. That may not seem like a big deal to those who have already filed their taxes, but it's a big deal to us last minute filers who tend to procrastinate until the very end.

Is anyone else a late filer like me or do you like to get them done and out of the way?

I definitely am. I keep meaning to schedule it, and then think, oh well I have until the 15th of next month. I'm good. .. yeah, I will definitely be doing it absolute last minute.

Thanks for the heads up. Helps me even further procrastinate.

I usually file a day or two after my return comes in the mail. I hate wondering if I'm going to owe or not, so I like to get it over with.

Remember that today is the last day to file your taxes if you haven't already applied for an extension. If you were granted an extension you will still need to make sure you pay the amount of money you owe (if you owe any) by midnight in your time zone tonight.

It's easy to file for an extension if you won't be able to file your taxes today, but make sure you submit the application before midnight your time.
